Reports

NSP produces various reports which are sent automatically by email to the NSP mailing list.

Daily report:

NSP produces daily reports, which compile flashnews with short comments about the daily context evolution of Somalia / Somaliland. NSP chooses topics relevant to the NGOs' understanding of the context. Every flashnews published is thoroughly cross-checked. NSP relies on its own staff, networks and open sources to produce these reports. Links to open sources are added when relevant. Daily reports are sent by email.

Weekly reports:

NSP produces a weekly report. This report summarizes and analyses the context evolution of the last week. This report is often used by NGOs as a basis for their own weekly reports. Weekly reports are sent by email.

Special reports:

On special occasions, NSP produces special reports (i.e: Special report: profile of anti-AS militias in Gedo and Hiran region).  This kind of reports are released by email, whether through NSP mailing list, or through a more restricted mailing list depending on the subject.

Written briefs

NSP has started to produce some documents of reference, which will be updated regularly. Those documents are usually available only on request by NGOs.

Area Briefings:

NSP has started to produce Area briefings. These comprehensive reports  (around 15 pages) give NGOs willing to operate in a specifc area most of the information they need: history, clan structure, political structure, NGOs presence and history of operations, security incidents and analysis, evacuation possibilities (airports, hospitals), movements, contacts list etc...

Somalia General Briefing:

This powerpoint presentation of 15 slides will give an overview of the Security evolution in Somalia for the last 3 years and its impact on humanitarian access. It will feature maps and have a straight to the point approach. This presentation will be usefull for staff new to Somalia, for reference in general strategic documents (proposals), for communication with headquarters etc...

Advisories

Every time occurs a new significant security situation which may impact on heavily NGOs operations, NSP will produce advisories. Advisories are usually built around a fact / analysis / recommendations structure. Advisories are sent by email. You need to register to the NSP mailing list to receive them. When possible, NSP will also usually contact directly NGOs on the ground by phone.
